KC attempts to keep momentum going against RSL

The Wizards enter the weekend one point back of the fourth-place Chicago Fire, and with seven points from their last three games, Kanas City defender Jimmy Conrad feels that his team is starting to hit its stride.

"I think we've figured out what was wrong and we've kind of steadied the ship," Conrad told the team's official website following a 1-0 win over Toronto FC last time out. "We have some momentum. To be honest, I think we've deserved a little bit of good luck."

The Wizards got a bit of luck as the lone goal of the match arrived in the 62nd minute after a long clearance was redirected into the path of the Wizards Teal Bunbury by a Toronto defender, allowing him to head the ball past goalkeeper Stefan Frei.

Kansas City held out for the win, but they will have a tougher opponent in front of them on Saturday as second-place RSL comes to town.

Jason Kreis has his team positioned just six points behind the Western Conference-leading Los Angeles Galaxy, and they can cut that deficit in half with a win on Saturday.

Kreis has seen his team lose once in its last 13 games, but he still doesn't think they have been at their best.

"I don't think we've been playing our best soccer of late," Kreis told the club's official website. "A lot of times you find in this game that you get the result and all of the sudden the confidence is back, and you are on a roll again."

A 3-0 win over D.C. United last time out is the kind of result that Kreis will be hoping can propel his team toward a good run of form, and he believes that Alvaro Saborio's 13th-minute goal to open the scoring was key moment in the match.

"Often times that first goal can be what makes or breaks the game for you," Kreis said. "Once we score that goal they've got to open up. And we're pretty dangerous when teams open up against us."

Nelson Gonzalez made his MLS debut as a substitute in the 88th minute, and he took advantage of the open space to score an impressive goal just minutes after stepping onto the field to cap the scoring.

"It was an amazing goal," Salt Lake's Will Johnson said. "The finish was just world class. We see it all the time in practice. He has a wicked left foot."
